Our Beginnings
Led by a dedicated board of directors, SDFF stands as a revered pillar of community service. Guided by unwavering standards of excellence and foresight, the board's diligence has shaped SDFF's remarkable journey to its current standing as a vital community resource. The impact of SDFF resonates regionally, highlighting the realization of the 1999 County Board of Supervisor's vision to provide services online, rather than in line.
In 1999, the San Diego Board of Supervisors took a decisive step by outsourcing its IT operations to enhance services for local government. The contract was awarded to the Pennant Alliance Group, a consortium of esteemed high technology companies, including Computer Science Corporation (CSC), Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), AT&T, and Avaya, Inc. As a remarkable "added value" initiative of Pennant Alliance, the San Diego Futures Foundation (SDFF) was established to provide cutting-edge technology services to the constituents of San Diego County. We have been doing so for the past 25 years.
Fostering Connections
At SDFF, our collaboration with the County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) has been pivotal in providing over 4,000 computers to foster families and transitioning foster youth across San Diego County, empowering them with the necessary tools for education and personal growth. This initiative not only equips these young individuals with essential digital resources but also ensures they have equitable opportunities to succeed alongside their peers. Through this partnership, SDFF and the County HHSA are nurturing potential and fostering a future where every child can thrive, regardless of their circumstances.
Our Approach
SDFF is proud to partner with the San Diego Workforce Partnership through our Digital Bridge Initiative and Foster Families Initiative. These crucial collaborations enhance our mission to connect and empower individuals by providing essential work-ready skills for entering the tech ecosystem, with a special focus on youth. Together, we are dedicated to building sustainable futures by equipping people with the tools and skills necessary for success in today’s dynamic digital environment. This partnership not only strengthens our community bonds but also expands our reach, ensuring more residents can realize their full potential in our increasingly tech-oriented world.
